Generative AI for Reviewer

This guideline explains the expectations for reviewers of Jurnal Pengabdian Olahraga Masyarakat (JPOM) regarding generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies during peer review. It is aligned with the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

1. Confidentiality

Manuscripts sent for review are confidential. Reviewers must not upload a manuscript, or any part of it, into generative AI tools.

Reviewers must not upload their review report into AI tools either, as the report may contain confidential information about the manuscript or its authors.

2. Writing the Review

Peer review requires critical thinking, expertise, and original assessment that only a human reviewer can provide. Generative AI must not be used to assess the manuscript or to generate the review report.

Reviewers are fully responsible and accountable for the content of their review reports.

Basic spelling and grammar checkers that do not store or share content may be used to polish the wording of the reviewer's own text.

3. Reporting Suspected AI Misuse

If a reviewer suspects that a manuscript contains undisclosed or inappropriate AI-generated content (e.g., fabricated references, data, or images), the reviewer should inform the handling editor through the review form, explaining the reasons for the concern.
