Plagiarism

The Journal of Digital Business and Applied Intelligence (JDBAI) is committed to maintaining academic integrity and preventing plagiarism in all published articles. Every submitted manuscript may be screened using plagiarism-detection software before entering the peer-review process.

Similarity Threshold

The maximum acceptable similarity index is 25%. The similarity report may be assessed after excluding the bibliography, properly quoted material, and minor matches, where appropriate.

The editorial team will apply the following considerations:

  • Manuscripts with a similarity index above 25% may be returned to the authors for revision or rejected before peer review.
  • A similarity index of 25% or below does not automatically guarantee that a manuscript is free from plagiarism.
  • The editorial team will examine the sources, distribution, and nature of the matched text rather than relying only on the overall percentage.
  • Substantial copying from a single source, inappropriate paraphrasing, or unattributed use of ideas may result in rejection even when the overall similarity index is below 25%.

Forms of Plagiarism

Prohibited practices include, but are not limited to:

  • Copying text, ideas, data, tables, figures, or other materials without proper citation.
  • Paraphrasing another author’s work without appropriate acknowledgement.
  • Self-plagiarism or redundant reuse of substantial parts of the authors’ previously published work without disclosure and citation.
  • Submitting a manuscript that has already been published or is being considered by another journal.
  • Using copyrighted tables, figures, images, or other materials without permission when permission is required.

Editorial Action

When plagiarism or substantial textual overlap is identified before publication, the manuscript may be returned for correction or rejected, depending on the severity of the case. When plagiarism is discovered after publication, JDBAI may issue a correction, expression of concern, or retraction and may contact the authors’ institution when appropriate.

Authors are fully responsible for ensuring the originality of their manuscripts and for providing complete and accurate citations for all sources used.
