This study aims to analyze how women are represented as subalterns in the short story “Perempuan Hujan” by Indra Tranggono using the feminist perspective of Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak. The research employs a qualitative method with discourse analysis and a postcolonial feminist framework. Data collection techniques used in this study include library research and note-taking to identify relevant quotations in the short story text. The research data consists of narratives, dialogues, and descriptions that depict the position of female characters in the story. The results show that the female character in the short story is represented as a subaltern through several aspects, including the loss of identity, objectification of the female body, symbolic presence, and her relationship with patriarchal structures.
